Hey, I'm Victor.
I started Lifetails because Neko and Tofu's life was slipping through my hands: photos in three apps, the vet's notes in an email, their weight in a notebook I couldn't find.
I build it alone, nights and weekends, from Andorra, with no investors and no ads. It's slower this way, and it means your pet's life is never a product.
What hurts most about the other apps.
I read thousands of reviews of other apps, and the same things kept hurting. That is why I built Lifetails: what we have always wanted, the way we wanted it. These are the ones I cannot forget, and what I do so it does not happen to you.

When can I use it?
The goal is late 2026. Lifetails is something I build at night and on weekends, so things come up and dates move. I'd rather ship it well than ship it on time. Join the waitlist and you'll hear first.
What does it cost?
There will be a free plan and a paid one, and I'm still working out what goes in each. Two things are likely to end up in the paid one: having several pets at once, and having more than one person writing at home. The ones who are no longer here never count. What won't happen: ads, selling your data, or asking for a card before you've even tried it.
What devices does it work on?
Your phone, iPhone and Android. That's where the camera is, and where you are when things happen: serving dinner, walking out of the vet. A web version will come one day, but not next year, unless enough of you ask for it.
Is it for any animal?
It's for cats and for dogs, and it's going to stay that way. Breeds, coats, vaccines and what suits each one don't look alike from one species to the next, and I'd rather it fit a dog and a cat completely than fall halfway short with ten.
Can several of us use it at home?
That's the plan, and it's the part I most want to build: your partner writes dinner down and you see who did it. It won't be ready for launch, and when it lands it will most likely be part of the paid plan.
Does it work offline?
Not for now. It isn't a priority: Lifetails is going to be a shared space, and letting people edit offline would cause more problems than it solves when several of you are writing at once.
Does it replace the vet?
No, and it does not try to. Lifetails writes down what happens and tells you what is due; the one who decides what your pet needs is your vet. What it does do is get you to the appointment with the whole story, not with whatever you remember.
And when they are gone?
Their story stays with you. Nothing closes and nothing is deleted: you can keep adding memories from when they were here, and read them again in twenty years. It is one of the reasons I am building this.
Who can see my pet's data?
Only you and, once invitations arrive, the people you choose. No selling, no ads, no third-party trackers. Your pet's life isn't a marketing dataset.
What happens to my data if I leave?
If you delete your account you have 14 days to change your mind: log back in and it is all still there. After that it really is gone, as the GDPR asks, with no shadow copies and no "just in case" backups lying around. And before you go you can download your data from the app itself.
What if you stop maintaining it one day?
It is the fair question when there is one person behind it. I cannot promise you twenty years, so I do what is in my hands: your data is yours and you can take it with you whenever you want. If this ever ends, you would hear it from me, by email and in good time.
